You are a caregiver if you are a spouse, adult child, other relative or friend who helps care for, or is concerned about an older adult or a person with a disability.

Caregiving is a two-sided coin. Amidst the joy of helping someone else, caregivers experience feelings of stress, frustrations, guilt, and concerns about how to handle future caregiving needs.

The ADRC of Barron, Rusk & Washburn Counties offers professional, unbiased information about supportive services and options that can assist you – the caregiver- and the person you are caring for.
Here are some of the services we offer:
Support Groups – These groups provide a great opportunity for caregivers and family members to share and learn from others experiencing similar frustrations and concerns. Occasionally, speakers are brought in to provide valuable information and resources.
Powerful Tools for Caregiver Classes – This six-week course is designed specifically for the caregiver to teach important tools to help reduce stress, improve communications, master emotions and communicate in challenging situations.
Adult Day Care – A day time social program for those with memory loss and confusion that provides safety, stimulation, and engagement with others.
Information and Assistance – We offer office, in-home and phone consultation about community resources and options available to you. These include respite care, financial resources and care options as well as information about ways to reduce stress and take care of you.
Caregiver Outreach Presentations – Community presentations can be scheduled on issues related to caregiving to help raise awareness and educate the public about available resources.
Resource Library – A variety of books, brochures and DVDs are available for check out. Topics range from caregiver wellness to specific health conditions related information
