Assists low and moderate-income households with repairs to their homes using Community Block Development Grants

Program Requirements:

• Residence must be in a rural community (i.e. Townships, Villages, Counties, etc.)with a population not exceeding 50,000.
• Available for water well improvements, in-home water treatment & septic systems.
• Applicants must own and occupy the home being improved or be purchasing the home.
• New home construction and community water systems are not eligible
• Household income limits apply

Loan Terms:

• Maximum loan amount: $15,000
• Interest rate: 1%
• Maturity may not exceed 20 years and will depend on repayment ability.
• Associated loan costs (credit report, recording fees, loan fees) are at borrower expense and can be included in the loan.

Home Preservation Program: Wild River’s Critical Home Repair Program helps homeowners with low to moderate incomes to get the repairs and improvements they need.  Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The program is designed for homeowners who have experienced a life change and as a result, may find themselves unable to maintain, add or repair critical aspects of their homes. The program provides critical home repairs to prevent low-income households from being displaced from their homes and to protect the affordable housing stock in our service area. Some home repair work includes accessibility modifications (ramps), weatherization, energy efficiency, critical repairs, and exterior repair services to revitalize neighborhoods. The program does not address basic painting, replacing carpet or flooring unless for safety or accessibility reasons, window replacement unless rotted, cosmetic repairs or renovation.

Homeownership. Wild Rivers partners with low-income households in need and with the ability to repay a zero to low-interest mortgage to build safe, affordable housing. Now accepting applications.

Mortgage and Rent Assistance: Wild Rivers Habitat for Humanity, Inc. can provide up to $1,000 to renters and homeowners impacted by COVID-19. This has been made possible through a grant from the St. Croix Valley Foundation. Eligible applicants will need to have been directly affected by COVID-19 through a reduction in work hours or loss of employment.

Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)

Must qualify for energy assistance.

Administers a number of housing rehabilitation and down payment/closing cost assistance programs and other programs.

Offers bathtub repairs, tub refinishing, tub-to-shower conversions, fixes damaged tubs, showers, sinks, counters & other bath & kitchen surfaces.

Tomorrow’s Home Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization created by the Wisconsin Housing Alliance in 2000. The foundation was created for several purposes:

• To provide emergency assistance for critical repairs that allow individuals and families to stay in their manufactured home.
• To create a method and mode for disposing of old, uninhabitable and unsightly mobile homes.

Provides low-interest loans for all income-eligible persons age 18+ and grants for persons age 62 and older for home weatherization and modifications. You must own your home.

Loans to low-income homeowners for private wells or septic systems in rural areas. Contact to see if the address qualifies, then they can evaluate other qualifications.

Awards grants to replace or rehabilitate failing private sewage systems.
