All Low-Income Housing Resources

Low-income housing provides housing opportunities for a limited number of qualified people unable to afford ever-rising rental rates. There are two main types of low-income housing:

  • Public Housing: Housing units managed by the local housing authority offering affordable rentals to low-income households. The units are priced based on a percentage of one’s income.
  • Section 8: A program that provides subsidies or vouchers to make up the difference between an area’s rental rates and what low-income families can actually afford. These vouchers can be used in any housing unit where Section 8 is accepted.
